外界傳言明年國民黨總統參選人洪秀柱若是大敗，現任黨主席朱立倫下台，立法院長王金平將有望接任黨主席一職。王金平今(16)日對此表示，「還沒選完，你怎麼知道會敗選」，對於外界臆測，他無法做回應。

針對國民黨立委廖國棟希望帶頭修改不分區立委提名辦法，讓王金平續任不分區第一名。王金平指出，「現在不宜討論」。

至於國民黨內有聲音希望王金平續留不分區立委。王金平表示，這他不清楚，在這方面他會盡力而為，怎麼樣都是好同事，都會義不容辭來協助，為黨努力、團結及衝刺。
